On 12 July, the Professional Affairs Committee organised a "Guangdong Study Trip for Legal Members". Thirty participants enjoyed a visit to the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, where they met judges and learnt about the differences between the legal systems in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
The DAB took the opportunity to organise a lunch seminar with the Guangzhou Bar Association, in which lawyers from Hong Kong and the Mainland got to know each other and explore co-operative opportunities over a selection of delicious local cuisine. Lastly, the lawyers visited the School of Law at Sun Yat-Sen University to attend a seminar on Labour Contract Law. During the seminar, esteemed lecturer Huang Qiao-yan explained the rationale, formation and implications of the Labour Contract Law.
